Almut Nebel is the scientific head of "The Research Group for Healthy Ageing" that searches for human longevity genes. The biologist is specialised in human molecular genetics.

Work Contribution within RESOLVE

The Research Group for Healthy Ageing at the Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology in Kiel performes genetic analysis by high-throughput genotyping and sequencing. The aim is to identify genetic variation that influences wound healing and repair mechanisms in aged humans. For this purpose, a candidate-driven exploration strategy is employed using extensive DNA collections of centenarians/non-agenarians and younger matched control subjects (1000 individuals in each group)that have already been established in the institute.
